An almost intact private letter of the New Kingdom was recently sold on the art market. This article is the publication of this small document, which was sent, along with a votive object, from Heliopolis by a woman named Maâka to her sister Iryt living in Thebes. A discussion follows on the subject of the literacy of women and they writing practices at this time of the history of Egypt.
