This article supports the idea that transhumanism constitutes a surpassing of post-modernity. For this purpose, after analysing the most philosophical elements of The Singularity is Near by Ray Kurzweil — considered as a reference book —, the A. presents a double interpretation of it : on the one hand, in the perspective of the modern concept of nature in its original elaboration; on the other hand, in a Thomist perspective bringing out the naturalization of art and the contradiction which transhumanism leads to. The article thus sets up the conditions of the opposition between art and nature in Thomas Aquinas, and contributes to renewing the reading of his philosophy of nature displayed through his comment on Aristotle’s Physica by defining nature and the function of conditional propositions that are used in it.
