« Alexander the Great Studies and Hellenism in Uzbekistan: A Postcolonial and Decolonial Discourse Within a Central Asian Archaeology Stalled Between Post-Soviet Myths, Centre-Periphery Tensions, and Non-Recognition of Russian Colonialism »
"Les études sur Alexandre le Grand et l’hellénisme en Ouzbékistan : un discours postcolonial et décolonial dans l’archéologie de l’Asie centrale dans l’impasse entre mythes post-soviétiques, tensions centre-périphérie et non-reconnaissance du colonialisme russe"
Résumé
To practise archaeology in Central Asia while taking into account the approaches of postcolonial theories is not an obvious task. Neither is it to write the history of archaeological studies in this region from this perspective. This chapter will analyse some of the reasons why it is so difficult to adopt these theoretical approaches. This problem will be examined in two parts: on the one hand, from the point of view of the history of the development of this discipline within a long historical perspective, from the tsarist period to the end of the Soviet era; on the other hand, from some situations related to the practices of archaeologists currently working in Central Asia.
