Muon g − 2 from the lattice

Résumé

We briefly report on the status of lattice calculations for the hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. After the analysis of the first run of the experiment, the Fermilab's Muon g2 experiment published a new measurement leading to a 4.2σ tension with the theory estimate published by the Muong2Theory Initiative. Both the theory estimate and the experimental value have comparable uncertainties and the theory error is dominated by hadronic contributions. In this report, we describe the main challenges of such lattice calculations and discuss recent results not yet taken into account in the previous theory estimate.
