Geometrical specification by gauge with internal mobilities applied to position functional requirements
The specification by gauge, as maximum or minimum material requirement, is particularly adapted to the expression of the functions of parts. But since their creation the structure of these gauges has not evolved rapidly, and their geometry remains fixed. This paper points out the concept of internal mobilities of a gauge. The approach by gauge with internal mobilities establishes the domain of functionally acceptable variations of the actual geometry, starting from three concepts:
(i) the interface gauge/part defining the relative position between the ideal surfaces of the gauge and the actual surfaces of the part,
(ii) the gauge structure modeling the environment of the part, the environment being composed of the parts of the mechanism and of their mobilities,
(iii) the functional characterisation by geometrical characteristics directly related to the function of the mechanism.
