Coordination control for heavy-duty dual-mode power-split hybrid electrical vehicle under dynamic condition

Résumé

For a heavy-duty vehicle with a dual-mode power-split hybrid system (DMPSHS) and a turbocharged diesel engine, this article proposes a coordination control strategy and an MPC control strategy for engine speed aiming at reducing fuel consumption and enhancing vehicle dynamics during dynamic condition. The core concept of this control strategy is to use motor torque to design a proper loading method of the engine under dynamic condition. An MPC controller was then designed to enhance the engine dynamic working condition. Simulation of the coordination control strategy was accomplished. The results indicate that the control of the motor loading method has a significant effect on engine dynamic response, and proper control of the motor torque including torque delay and slope control can optimise the engine dynamic adjustment and fuel economy. Based on the motor loading method, an MPC controller for engine speed can further improve the engine dynamic working condition.
