Tracing back snippets of knowledge embedded in Tang Poems, or What sources might explain the rich information on plants present in Tang poetry

Résumé

A study of the different occurrences of the tu 荼 (or its equivalents according to works on plants relevant for agricultural and medical purposes) in poems from the Antiquity down to the end of the Tang. This study aims at shifting perspective, from a literary approach to intertextual links towards the issue of the role both scholarship and 'practical' knowledge played in poetry composition under the Tang.
