Pedagogical Scenario Design and Operationalization: A Moodle-Oriented Authoring Tool for Connectivist Activities
Résumé
Recent studies on Massive Open Online Courses highlighted the importance of learn-ing design in order avoiding different issues of these environments. Research also emphasizes the challenges experienced by teachers and instructional designers regarding the implementation of pedagogical scenarios in Learning Management System (LMS), due to the lack of tools and models to support them on these aspects. These difficulties are mainly related to the operational-ization of pedagogical scenarios and the use of the corresponding tools, especially in a connec-tivist context. This research work addressees a large part of theses issues and focuses on the study of learning design model for Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) environments, and more specifically on assisting teachers in the design and implementation of pedagogical scenarios for connectivist MOOCs (cMOOCs). It also focuses on Moodle Platform and proposes for this spe-cific platform. The major contribution of this work is a visual authoring tool, based on business workflows for the design and deployment of cMOOC-oriented scenarios on the Moodle platform. The tool was also evaluated, primarily from the point of view of utility and usability. The findings confirm that our tool can provide all the elements needed to formalize and operationalize such courses on the Moodle platform.
