Investigating forms of relation between teaching and research in the case of graph theory
Résumé
This paper deals with university teachers' practices. It seeks to characterize the forms of relation that can take place between their teaching practices and their research activity in the domain of graph theory. Our exploratory study draws on an interview with a university teacher and observations of her classes that focus on her use of generic examples in the classroom. Generic examples are particularly important in proofs in graph theory, and we therefore estimate that their use by teachers can shed light on the potential influence of their research activity on their teaching.
