Bounded operators and von Neumann algebras
Résumé
We discuss the algebras of bounded operators A ⊂ B(H), in the case where A is weakly closed, and has a trace tr : A → C. In this case we have A = L ∞ (X), with X being a quantum space, and the free case, where Z(A) = C, is of particular interest. We explain this material, following von Neumann and Connes, Jones, Voiculescu.
