Temporalités de l'expérimental
Résumé
What I call the “legend of experimentalism” is often said to begin with John Cage, thus giving the USA pride of place in the definition and the inception of experimentalism. By a close look at the term “experimentalism,” this article examines the many narratives that go with it. It thus presents a study of how experimentalism is affected and conceives of temporality, how it destabilizes its own historicity as well as how it is treated by contemporary experimental writers and artists such as Caroline Bergvall and Ellie Ga, whose work reflects on temporal stratification.
