Eavesdropping on foraging and social sounds of conspecifics influence the horizontal movement of Risso?s dolphins
Résumé
Risso's dolphin (Grampus griseus) is a social odontocete species living in long-term stable groups composed of males or females and their offspring. Its vocal repertoire
includes various social and foraging sounds. We hypothesized that Risso's dolphins can gather information by eavesdropping on sounds produced by their congeners, enabling them to adjust their behaviour according to the perceived context.
