How do cooperative interaction make us more erudite? Some reflections about the necessary conditions for dialogical functioning of the socio-cognitive conflict.
In the study of inter-individual forms of learning, the notion of socio-cognitive conflict remains a speculative hypothesis in order to explain how fresh knowledge can emerge from both cognitive and social regulations during the unfolding interaction. We discuss some characteristics of conversation as a favorable interactional space for learning. We have also outlined an interlocutory analysis of dialogical interactions, favoring socio-cognitive conflict. In order to carry out this analysis, we took the first descriptions obtained by Interlocutory Logic into account. We then illustrated our theoretical hypothesis by analyzing two interlocutory sequences aiming at solving a logical problem: the Tower of Hanoi. In the first example, children co-operate to solve the problem collectively, in the second example they do not co-operate.
