Fuzzy interval analysis using the method of profiles
In interval computation, with a function f of arity n, and n intervals [x − i , x + i ], we want to know the possible values f on X = × i [x − i , x + i ]. Under particular monotonic assumptions on f , we just need to compute the values of f on the vertex of the hyper-rectangle X to obtain the bounds of f (X). With the notions of profiles and fuzzy extreme configurations, we generalize this approach for computation on fuzzy intervals. Then we adapt this method for the computation of the variance of fuzzy observations.
