Study of the behavior to the shock and in fatigue of the composites with thermoplastic matrix reinforced by discontinuous glass fibers
Résumé
Within the framework of the development of the beams of cars in composite, we led a study on composites to thermoplastic matrix reinforced by noncontinuous glass fibers. The use of composite materials with organic matrix became traditional in the industry of transport and particularly in the car. It increases the freedom of style and also allows a profit of weight and sometimes of cost of the unit. In spite of the low level of the working stresses currently envisaged at the time of their design, it is important to guarantee the reliability of these structures while being ensured of their behavior to the mechanical requests in service which are largely dynamic stresses. The control of the fatigue behavior of these composites thus becomes necessary. The answer to the impact of composite materials is studied also much since the realization of primary composite structures. Indeed, the fall of a tool during the assembly or the maintenance of such a structure can cause damages no visible with the eye, being able to involve the ruin in the long term. The composites with reinforced thermoplastic matrix glass fibers are prone to the same phenomena. It is paramount to know their behavior under impact to make sure of their reliability. Moreover these composite materials are likely to be used like absorbers of energy, in particular for the cars. It is thus important to optimize them for this use.
