Sur le remodelage par rotation du tissu osseux
Résumé
The amazing mechanical properties of bone, coupling stiffness, strength and lightweight, are due to a lifelong reorganization of the bony material, known as bone remodeling. In this study, we model bone remodeling using the theory of material remodeling. Modeling bone material as an elastic orthotropic medium, remodeling is described as a rotation of its principal axes. Numerical simulations illustrate the stress-driven remodeling of a two-dimensional body. Moreover, it is shown that both analytical and numerical results agree in predicting the remodeling equilibrium.
