L'hybride en images. Déplacement progressifs de la frontière entre homme et animal
Résumé
Taking the move from the differences between the Medieval and the Modern image, the authors will attempt at applying Agamben’s concept of «anthropological machine» to a specific historical episode, that of the growing disappearance of hybrid human‐ animal images from the books of allegories from the end of the XVI Cent. The authors thus aim at showing how the early XVII Century witnesses a fundamental shift of the human/animal frontier, from the representation of interspecies hybrids to that of the savage. A move which opened up the possibility of defining the
human on biological grounds, as opposed to aesthetic, philosophical and religious ones.
