Effect of Catalysts and Curing Temperature on the Properties of Biosourced Phenolic Foams

Biosourced phenolic foams were successfully prepared from lignin alkaline liquor, oak hydrolysable tannins, and mimosa-condensed tannins. For free-formaldehyde foams, the nature of the catalyst and the curing temperature significantly influence on the final properties of the foams. The biosourced phenolic foams exhibited high compressive strength and low thermal conductivity. The properties of lignin-tannin-based phenolic foams depend greatly on the types of catalysts and the curing temperatures.
