Thermal modeling of an integrated inductor in a micro-converter: application to integrated inductance

Résumé

The knowledge of the thermal behavior of a passive component is absolutely necessary. The purpose of this article is to see the thermal behavior of an integrated inductor operating in a micro DC–DC buck converter. The Geometric dimensioning of our integrated inductor has allowed us to determine the equivalent electrical model necessary as a result of our work. At first, we define the characteristics of the micro converter, which is the starting point for the design of an integrated inductor, taking into account the electrical and magnetic characteristics of the materials selected. For the study of the thermal behavior of our integrated inductor, we used mathematical models that treat the thermal phenomena. They allowed us to determine the operating temperature in the different layers of our component to the transient and steady state.
