The controversy concerning man-made climate change is often described as a culture war. This article sheds light on the elements of the debate which align it with the culture war framework as outlined by James D. Hunter. Yet, the goal of this article is to qualify the characterization of the climate change controversy as a culture war by emphasizing the discrepancy in attention and perception between the political class, on the one hand, and the general public, on the other.
