Scenarios of deep decarbonization of freight transport for France by 2050

Abstract

Scenarios for deep decarbonation for freight transport in france. Two distinct scenarios are presented, one focused on technological progress and the other one on a transition towards a more frugal and environmentally virtuous demand for freight transport. In both cases, a goal oriented backcasting prospective analysis is derived. Scenarios are based on qualitative storylines, distinguishing a detailed sequence of mechanisms, from demand formation to GHG emissions. A quantitative approach is also developed in other to quantify decarbonations pathways in a self-consistent way.
