Résumé

The study of the Pléiade Books, a collection of literary texts launched in 1931, illuminates the very idea of Literature in France during the past sixty year. The Pléiade also illuminates a specific instance of what critics in the United States have called 'canon formation' or, perhaps more accurately in the French context, the 'consecration' of a set of authors and texts.
