As the largest high school in the Orléans-Tours school district and one of the largest in France, the Lycée Grandmont is unique in that it also offers technical training. However, the technical side did not exist from the outset. Firstly, this article focuses on the challenges and motivations which led to the creation of this new high school in Tours and the choice of its location. It then examines the late addition of technical training from the planning stages until the time the school was built. Finally, the article analyses the reasons why the high school is often described as a "factory".
