Ammonio di Alessandria. Testimonia.

Résumé

The aim of this paper is the edition, translation and commentary of the testimonia of life and works of Ammonius of Alexandria, pupil of Aristarchus and his successor at the head of the Library of Alexandria. Not only Ammonius is the key figure in the transmission of the Homeric edition of his master, but he also shows a variety of scholarly interests: Homer, Pindar, the Comedy, Plato. From the study of the testimonia emerges the profile of a learned indipendent scholar, whose closeness to Aristarchus did not prevent him from developing his own reaserch, out of the shadow of the teacher.
