A filled ice methane hydrate stable up to 1.5 Mbar
Résumé
Gas hydrates, composed of a water framework filled with neutral guest molecules are important in many fields from energy storage to greenhouse-gas management, but are also considered as constituents of icy moon and planetary interiors. In this contribution we present high-pressure Raman spectroscopy data of CH 4-D 2 O hydrate up to 1.5 Mbar. By parallel molecular dynamics simulations we identify phase transitions and show that the stable phase up to the highest observed pressure is filled hexagonal ice Ih.
