Lubitsch’s work as a director has already been widely studied and analyzed; yet, his contribution to the reflection at stake in Hollywood studios regarding the organization of the collective creative work remains largely unknown. Indeed, his work in Hollywood cannot be limited to his contribution as a director. His efforts to participe in shaping the procedures of work organization were specifically important during his work at Paramount studios. He spent a significant part of his Hollywood career there and held several management positions. He constantly sought for better cooperative working patterns, allowing a better collaboration not between the different artists involved as well as the producer whom he considered as an artistic figure.
