From an interactionist perspective, involvement in activism can be understood as the product of individuals’ trajectories and the contexts in which they evolve. The practical implementation of this approach has, however, too often overlooked a central aspect of biography: the plurality of the social embeddedness of activists. Yet the interaction of different “life spheres” (school and family) plays an essential role in maintaining activism, particularly as concerns radical activism in an authoritarian context. This article explores this through the analysis of the trajectories of young activists of the Turkish Revolutionary Left in the 1970s.
