L’évolution du culte dans le vicus de Belginum (Allemagne), de la culture de Hunsrück-Eifel jusqu’à l’époque romaine : les fouilles préventives 2014-2016
Résumé
The archaeological site Belginum is situated 50 km eastwards from Trier. With the Celtic and Roman cemetery, the Roman Vicus with at least three sanctuaries it is one of the largest rural archaeological sites central Europe. Vicus and cemetery are located along an important ancient road, linking the province capitals Trier and Mainz. The three sanctuaries are situated in the western part of the Vicus. Recent research showed that these sanctuaries were founded at least in the third century BC (late Early/early Middle La Tène period). The sanctuaries were present contiuously, up to the end of the fourth century AD. The oldest structure is a circle of quartzite boulders. Wooden architecture began in the late La Tène period (octagonal building), stone architecture in the late first/early second century AD (fanum).
