Near-field source localization of quasi-stationary signals with increased degrees of freedom

Résumé

Near-field source localization has attracted muchinterest in many applications of radar, sonar, speech andseismology. In near-field, both the direction of arrival (DOA)and range are required for the localization. However, a lot ofnear-field source localization methods are based on symmetricarray configuration, whose degrees of freedom are about thehalf of the number of sensors. In this paper, we consider thenear-field source localization problem with increased degreesof freedom, by using the property of quasi-stationary signalsand Khatri-Rao product. In order to reduce the computationalburden, we adopt the dimension-reduced technique by splittingthe steering vector in terms of DOA and range, respectively. TheDOAs are estimated through a one-dimensional search and theranges are obtained with the estimated DOAs without searchingor pairing. Simulations are provided to show the effectiveness ofthe proposed method.
