Exceptional discovery of a « statue-menhir » and engraved megalithic blocks in Île-de-France (Chamigny, Seine-et-Marne)
Résumé
It was during a preventive archaeological excavation carried out in 2017 by Inrap in Chamigny, that three fragmented and decorated megalithic blocks were uncovered 60 m from a collective grave. The iconographic style of the statue-menhir and the radiocarbon dating of the collective burial place them, between the Late Neolithic and the Early Bronze Age. However, the blocks were found lying and a large and deep pit is present at the eastern end of the tomb, suggesting that the megaliths are probably not in their original functional context.
