During the first Romantic period, poetry was no longer a profession or a technique. It was instead an experience. This is why poethics seeks to re-establish a relationship to oneself, to the world, and to others, as part of a revolution that brings poetry outside of itself and its codes, and the subject outside of themselves, allowing identities to circulate. In personal lyricism, the I becomes impersonal, because it becomes a spokesperson: a representative for all, demanding a politics of poetry.
