Effects of secondary electron emission from the ceramic walls on the discharge of Hall effect thrusters using a 2D PIC simulation
Résumé
This study focuses on secondary electron emission in the Hall Effect thrusters (HET). We use a bi-dimensional PIC code to simulate the exit plane of a HET. The simulation domain includes the walls as well as the E × B drift direction. We observe that the usual sheath model predicts a reemission rate higher than the one measured in the simulation. The analysis of the simulations data allow us to have a better understanding of the plasma-wall interaction.
