Vibration Isolation by Phononic Crystal with Symmetrical and Folding Beam Structure

A new phononic crystal model is proposed to isolate vibration. Propagation of coupled extensional and flexural elastic waves is studied in this symmetrical, folding beam-type phononic crystal. Based on the variational formulation for elastic waves, band structure is calculated by FEM. Several low-frequency and broad band gaps have been found.
