Ionian Festivals
Résumé
Besides Panionian gatherings at Delos or Cape Mykale, Ionians distinguished themselves by celebrating some civic festivals of their own, as is demonstrated by the similarities between their various calendars. The so-called Ionian festivals included notably the Apatouria, designed as an Ionian ethnic marker, the Apollonian festival of the Thargelia and the Dionysian festival of the Anthesteria. Characteristics of many Ionian festivals are found in Athenian religion.
