Surface Plasmon Resonance biosensors enhanced by active mass transport

Résumé

The performance of conventional biosensors, including surface plasmon resonance systems, is often limited at low target concentrations by the diffusion of the target analytes to the sensor surface. This work presents an SPR biosensor enhanced by electrokinetic phenomena to improve analyte transport to the sensor surface and reduce both time and detection threshold. We have developed a model describing the trajectory of analytes toward the sensor surface for different electrodes configurations and experimentally demonstrated the enhancement of target capture using both latex microbeads and biological species.
