Proposal for a systematic typology of stormwater control measures
Proposition d’une typologie systématique des techniques alternatives de gestion des eaux pluviales
Résumé
Alternative techniques to the stormwater drainage system are based on the general principles of temporary storage, controlled flow evacuation and infiltration. These techniques have existed for a long time but are designated under various names, designating facilities which not always well identified. This lack of rigor does not facilitate their understanding by people who do not necessarily master the subtleties of stormwater management. This article aims at constructing a logical and systematic typology of existing kinds of facilities, based on an analysis of their form, localisation and functioning. The establishment of such a typology proved to be essential to develop the software “Parapluie” that provides assistance in decision making and design of stormwater control measures.
