Non-integer real-time robust control with application to toll plaza and evaluation of CO2 gases emissions

Résumé

In this paper a non-integer robust control approach to determine the speed variation downstream to a toll plaza is proposed. This control strategy helps to evaluate the impact of CO2 emissions from traffic in interurban area. The proposed control approach is based on non-integer robust methodology. This control strategy assures the robust performances for the traffic velocity and maintains the density on the high ways under a constraint value with the main aim to assure fluid traffic flow. The pollution factor of CO2 emission was evaluated for the controlled and non controlled traffic. Comparison analysis of the influence of the control on the CO2 emissions was proposed. This control is applied to the macroscopic traffic flow model situated downstream on a toll plaza. The method of modelling traffic flow at macroscopic level originated under an assumption that traffic streams as a whole are comparable to fluid streams. In the following an integration procedure of CO2 emissions is presented. For this reason the motion law of vehicle and his full combustion of fuel were used. This helps to combine the traffic assignment model with the CO2 emissions for all the traffic streams. The control of the traffic situated downstream on a toll plaza scenario has been simulated. Based on simulations the robust performances of the non-integer control strategy, the stability of the parameter variations and their influences on the CO2 emissions were demonstrated.
