Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of a new fluoride carbonate Ba2Co(CO3)2F2
Résumé
The structure of Ba2Co(CO3)2F2, obtained by hydrothermal synthesis, is determined from X-ray single crystal diffraction data (1085 unique reflections, R=0.034, Rw=0.078). Ba2Co(CO3)2F2 is orthorhombic, space group Pbca (Z=4), with a=6.6226(6), b=11.494(2), c=9.021(2) Å and V=686.7(4) Å3. It can be described from infinite (010) layers of [CoO4F2] octahedra and CO2−3 entities or from [BaO3F]∞ sheets of [BaO7F3] polyhedra. Antiferromagnetic order occurs below TN≈6 K.
