L'article restitue l'étude d'une table-ronde produite au cours d'une journée-débat traitant de l'exploitation du gaz de charbon dans le Nord de la France. Les journées-débat sont des réunions publiques qui constituent un moyen actuellement privilégié pour informer et impliquer la population sur des problématiques notamment environnementales. Des chercheurs avancent que les tables-rondes peuvent s'inscrire dans le courant participatif qui a pris forme dans les années 60 aux Etats-Unis. Dans cet article, nous proposons l'analyse de la transcription de la table-ronde consacrée à l'impact de l'exploitation sur l'environnement afin d'apprécier dans quelle mesure les tables-rondes intègrent le courant participatif. L'analyse s'inscrit dans une visée compréhensive ; elle met en oeuvre une méthodologie visant à éclairer l'activité sous différents angles. Il ressort de l'étude, outre la mise en exergue des caractéristiques de la table-ronde, que celle-ci remplit quasiment toutes les règles spécifiées dans la littérature, hormis celle relative à l'interactivité. Abstract This paper provides the study of a round table produced in a day-debate dealing with the exploitation of coal gas in the North of the France. Day-debates are public meetings which constitute a medium to inform and involve the public on particular environmental issues. Researchers state that roundtables can join the participatory current, which started in the 1960s in the United States. In this paper, an analysis of the transcript of the roundtable on the impact of exploitation on the environment is offered in order to appreciate how the round tables can integrate participatory awareness. The analysis is part of a comprehensive focus; it implements a methodology to illuminate the activity from different angles. According to the study, in addition to the focus on the characteristics of the roundtable, except for that relating to interactivity, it fills almost all of the rules specified in the literature.
