« Ma Guerre 1914-1918 », de Charles Bruneau : les mots d'un linguiste sur le front
Ma guerre 1914-1918 di Charles Bruneau: parole di un linguista al fronte
Résumé
The French linguist Charles Bruneau (1883-1969) was 31 years old when the war was declared. He was assistant professor at the Faculté des Lettres in Nancy. He served as a radio soldier, receiving and translating german communication for the État-Major of the 132 e R.I. (24th brigade). Very early in his war experience, on May 6th 1915, he asked a former student Maurice Journé, 16 years old, to keep his correspondance until the end of the war, like a most reliable deposit of his war memory. Right after the war, Charles Bruneau collected all his writings (letters to his family, to Maurice and his war diary) and made a book called "My War 1914-1918". We present this unpublished book and some preliminary analyses based on textual statistics.
