Reliability modeling of a spool valve considering the dependencies among failure mechanisms and epistemic uncertainty

Résumé

The aim of this paper is to develop a reliability model fora spool valve whichis subject to the effects of two failure mechanisms, wear and clamping stagnation. In the reliability model, the wear process is described by a linear degradation process and the clamping stagnation is modeled as a shock process, de-scribed by a non-homogeneous Poisson process. The model accounts for the interactions between the two failure mechanisms, by assuming that the rate of occurrence of the shocks depends on the degradation level of the spool valve. The results show that by accounting for the interactions between the failure processes, the re-liability of the spool valve is significantly downgraded compared to the case with independent failure process-es.
