Passato remoto, passato prossimo e imperfetto: uso biografico e fittizio delle forme al passato nelle interlingue di immigrati di area partenopea
Résumé
The study focuses on the expression of past temporal relations in biographic and fictional narratives by several groups of immigrant learners of Italian L2 living in Naples and the surrounding area. Learners’ results are compared to those of the native speakers of Italian. Data analysis shows that learners use the past forms (passato remoto, passato prossimo, imperfetto) of Italian verbs in their narratives, but do so differently from the native speakers’ with regard to discourse principles with noticeable consequences for the consecutio temporum and the organization of the whole text. Furthermore, all learner groups use the passato remoto, thus avoiding the “auxiliary + past participle” analytical strategy, and show problems with the use of the imperfetto and the past in subordinate clauses.
