The Bénou Plateau is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques about 30 km south of Pau, in the commune of Bilhères-en-Ossau, on the left side of the Ossau Valley, one of the primary Pyrenean valleys connecting France and Spain. The plateau forms a natural bridge, through the neck of the Marie Blanque, between the Ossau Valley and the neighbouring Aspe Valley. Culminating at an average altitude of 900m, it constitutes the first level of the law mountains range.
