A single switch resonant and quasi-resonant converter suitable for low power applications

Résumé

This paper presents a resonant and quasi-resonant converter which can achieve soft-switching on all power elements with only one switch easy to drive because referred to the ground. Thanks to its simplicity this converter is a good candidate for low power applications. The operational principle and design procedure are presented and verified experimentally with a 30 W prototype operating at 250 kHz with 28 V input voltage and 15 V output voltage.
