Résumé

This chapter is the result of more than 15 years of experience of sensory evaluationin the car industry. After explaining the context of automotive sensory evaluationand the need for sensory science in the car industry, we will develop three examplesof studies, chosen to highlight the interest of rapid sensory methods including FlashProfiling. Two of these examples concern dynamic aspects of the car. Therefore, thesensory description is obtained during the task of driving, which is a specificity of thecar industry. We will discuss the pros and cons of Flash Profiling, in particular withrespect to product development taking consumers’ perceptions into account.
