Positioning results of the repealite based indoor positioning system in a small room

Résumé

The widespread expansion of satellites navigation systems in the last fifteen years has made us use more position data. Today, it no longer seems absurd to use a Global Positioning System (GPS) device in cars. Farmers and sailors have been using these electronic tools for even longer to calculate an absolute position. Medicine is no exception: the use of navigation for disabled people, people with Alzheimer's disease or blindness should become generalized. However, there is one important limitation to current systems: the lack of continuity between outdoors and indoors. Indeed, satellite navigation systems are practically inoperative indoors. When they operate, their accuracy of several tens or even hundreds of meters is not compatible with a constrained environment. We therefore propose a solution to ensure this continuity: repealite system. In this paper we briefly introduce the principles of the method. We also present a calibration method of the system and a measurement campaign in an extremely small area, which therefore requires sub-meter accuracy, i.e. considerably better than satellite navigation systems outdoors
