Structure of Te1-xClx liquids
Résumé
The structure of Te1-xClx liquids which have a composition outside the glassy domain has been investigated in order to get a structural overview of the non-crystalline phases of this system. Systematic neutron diffraction measurements were carried out for x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7, and 0.8. Neutron structure factors SN(Q) exhibit a well pronounced First Sharp Diffraction Peak (FSDP) for Te-rich liquids, what suggests a significant intermediate range order. Conversely, the Cl-rich liquids display a light FSDP what supports the model of molecular liquid. The total correlation functions TN(r) exhibit Te-Te and Cl-Te average coordination numbers, in complete agreement with a chain structure, in which the final member is the dimer Te2Cl8
