Pour une étude de l’organisation de l’espace urbain d’Antioche sur l’Oronte dans l’Antiquité tardive
Résumé
The first part of this paper is devoted to the Antiocheian phylai (tribes), as they are described by Libanius in the fourth century. These tribes are in fact subdivisions of the urban space. The second part is an inventory of the quarters (geitoniai) of the city which are known from various sources. In the third part it is shown that in Late Antiquity in Antioch geitonia and phyle are one and the same thing, and some thoughts about the history of the administrative organization of the urban space of Antiocheia are offered.
