Tunability of CRLH metamaterial components using magnetic sol-gel

Bruno Sauviac

Résumé

The study focuses on coplanar microwave components of meta-material type and on a way to tune their frequency properties. For this, we have explored the magnetic route, using magnetic nanoparticles included in sol-gel composite. Measurement under variable magnetic excitation field has highlighted frequency tunability of the response of the components. A tunability a 10% is obtained on the resonator and the meta-line, with a very little amount of magnetic materiel. As a consequence, losses are drastically reduced which is a real improvement compared with previous works.
