Terentianus Maurus dans les commentaires de Servius sur Virgile
Résumé
This paper studies the use of Terentianus Maurus' didactic poems De syllabis and De metris in the three commentaries on Virgil by Servius. Servius mentions Terentianus by name eight times and may have used his work once without naming his source. All nine excerpts of Servius are translated and discussed. In most instances, the mention of Terentianus is completed by a quote of one to three verses ; one of these is a fragment not othewise preserved. As befits a didactic poet writing on metre, Terentianus appears in Servius' commentaries both as an authority on grammatical matters (mostly, but not only, on subtelties of scanning and metre) and as a poet in his own right.
